PREAMBLE.
The company, SR SPORTS (RCS Chambéry 789 199 452, head office: 695 avenue Paul-Louis Merlin – 73800 Montmélian, France), owner of the brand FREERIDE ensures on this website the booking of reservations, rental of ski equipment and associated accessories (boots, poles, and helmets)
Booking ski or snowboard equipment through our website implies acceptance of the general conditions specified below.
These general conditions govern the rental by FREERIDE of ski or snowboard equipment to the Client via the Internet. The Client wishing to rent equipment through this site must first identify themselves to become a Client.
The Client will definitively validate their rental upon viewing a summary displayed on the screen, by "clicking" to signify their commitment, knowledge, and acceptance of the general and specific conditions below.
Definition CLIENT.
"Client" is defined as any person renting equipment on the website www.freeride.fr and making the payment for this rental. A Client can rent equipment for multiple people but will be solely responsible towards FREERIDE.
Definition FREERIDE
FREERIDE is defined as a network of Stores owned by SR SPORTS, or affiliated with it, as well as the website www.freeride.fr. It may hereinafter be referred to as the "Website".
Definition RENTAL STORE(S)
Rental Store(s) are defined as the Stores that are part of the FREERIDE network listed on the Website.
Article 1: Equipment Rental Reservation
The Client declares to be 18 years old and have the legal capacity to contract on the website as well as to comply with these GTC or have parental authorization allowing them to make a reservation on the website.
The categories of equipment, services, and applicable rates are described on the website, specifying that only categories of equipment are offered and not a specific model.
The general characteristics of each proposed category are listed on the Website, as well as at least one example of equipment corresponding to each category. The Client therefore selects and reserves a category of equipment. The examples of equipment are given purely as an indication and have no contractual value.
Making a reservation is done in several steps on the Website:
- The Client chooses a ski resort and a rental period (first day of skiing – last day of skiing).
- The Client chooses a store The Client chooses their skiing equipment/services (optional).
- The Client creates an account or logs in.
- The Client pays for their reservation.
- The Client then receives a confirmation email of their order from FREERIDEC.
The order confirmation email signifies acceptance by FREERIDE of the Client's reservation.
Article 2: Rates and Payment Conditions
2.1. Rental Rates
Rental rates are indicated in Euros including VAT and depend on the category of equipment rented by the Client, the chosen Rental Store, the rental period, and the date of the reservation.
FREERIDE reserves the right to modify its categories during the season, as well as the applicable rates. The effective price is the one displayed on the site at the time of reservation. It only has contractual value after reservation confirmation and deposit payment.
SR SPORT reminds that the pricing conditions and discounts present on the FREERIDE website are exclusively valid for reservations on www.ski-republic.com, they cannot be applied in-store. Thus, any equipment rental made directly within the Rental Store (without reservation on the site) will be at the public rate of said Rental Store.
Baskets saved on the FREERIDE site are valid for 14 days provided you have created your account, so the concerned rates will remain unchanged until the end of this period.
Promo codes communicated by Newsletter or on the internet are valid for a determined period and only at the participating stores in the operation. Please note that some stores do not participate in the operation: Jordan's Sports, Morillon Sport Precision, Les Alpages, Maison Clataud Sport Sestrières, Le Barachin, Maison Clataud Sport, Maison Clataud Sport - Sportinia, and Maison Clataud Sport 2.
Discount codes are not cumulative, they must be entered at the basket stage when making a reservation on www.freeride.fr.
In the context of conventioned partnerships, a member/adherent card will be requested in-store to justify membership to the signatory organization.
FREERIDE will charge the user reservation fees in addition to the rental price. These reservation fees amount to 1€ per equipment.
2.2. Payment Conditions
When making a reservation on the website, the Client selects the Rental Store from which they wish to rent their equipment. The Client then selects the desired category of equipment.
After selecting the equipment, the Client will be asked to confirm their reservation. The Client has the option to pay either 100% of their reservation or a deposit of 30%. Only the deposit payment or full payment of the reservation records the Client's reservation on the website.
The validation of the rental is a mandate to pay the price, all taxes included (TTC), of the rental.
Once the reservation is concluded after SR SPORTS receives the agreement of the central bank network regarding the payment of all or part of the reservation and the Client receives a confirmation email of the reservation being taken into account, these two conditions being cumulative, the Rental Store commits to renting the reserved equipment to the Client according to the modalities set in the reservation and these GTC, and the Client commits to taking the reserved equipment according to the same modalities.
2.3. Payment Methods
The Client can pay for their products online on the Site in several ways.
- Payment by credit card:
Payments must be made using a bank card: cards with the CB logo, cards bearing the "Visa" or "Mastercard" mark accepted in France, as well as cards issued under international networks approved by the GIE Cartes Bancaires.
To make your purchases securely, FREERIDE has chosen Crédit Agricole, publisher of the Up2pay payment solution. Up2pay facilitates your online transactions with reliability and security. Each transaction is encrypted, and no banking data is recorded on our site. The payment platform is fully secured thanks to 3D Secure, a new standard allowing the validation of the bank card number, expiration date, and cryptogram.
The agreement of the central bank card network makes the order validated by the Client on the website effective. In case of refusal by the central bank card network, SR SPORTS reserves the right to cancel the reservation.
- Payment in 2, 3, and 4 installments with ALMA:
Payment in installments/delayed is available via our partner Alma. The security of payments is ensured by Alma and its providers. All payments are protected by 3D Secure.
Only purchases over €100 are eligible for payment with Alma.
By paying in installments with Alma, the Client pays fees in the following cases:
-
- P2X: 0.82% per transaction
- P3X: 1.66% per transaction
- P4X: 2.47% per transaction
Alma is the payment manager and issues an electronic certificate that serves as proof of the transaction amount and date in accordance with the provisions of articles 1316 and following of the civil code.
Any termination of the GTC binding the Seller and the client results in the termination of the GCU between Alma and the client.

Article 4: Modification and Cancellation of the Reservation.
4.1. Reservation Modification
A change related to the reservation date, the category, size, and/or quantity of the Reserved Equipment, or the paid services offered will be made according to the conditions defined below.
If the change is made up to 24 hours before the first day of skiing, the difference between the two reservations will be refunded or supplemented, not being less than one euro (1€).
Three situations can arise.
- If the amount of the new Reservation is higher than the Initial Reservation, the supplement of a minimum amount of one euro (1€) must be paid directly in the store.
- If the amount of the new reservation is lower than the Initial Reservation and there is no balance to be paid in the store, the difference between the new reservation and the Initial Reservation will be refunded within 30 days by crediting the bank card used during the online reservation.
- If the amount of the new reservation is lower than the Initial Reservation and there is a balance to be paid in the store, the difference between the new reservation and the Initial Reservation will be taken into account when paying the rental balance in the store.
In any case, once the changes are recorded, the Client receives a new order confirmation email with the new modified information.
4.2. Right of Withdrawal
In accordance with current legal provisions, the Client has the right to withdraw, without having to provide a reason, within 14 calendar days from the receipt by the Client of the confirmation email of the reservation.
To exercise their right of withdrawal, the Client must notify their decision through an unambiguous statement directly to FREERIDE by e-mail using the online contact form or via their online client space.
FREERIDE will refund the Client the total amount paid including VAT online during the reservation made on the Site, within a maximum of 30 days by crediting the bank account used during the online reservation.
FREERIDE refuses any refund to another payment method than the one used during the reservation.
After this 14-day period, the Client cannot claim any full refund of the amounts paid.
However, the Client's right of withdrawal is excluded in the following case:
For any reservation made less than 14 days before the scheduled pickup date of the equipment, the withdrawal period will end the day before the first rental day. Any cancellation request must therefore be addressed at least 24 hours before the scheduled pickup date of the equipment.
4.3. Cancellation after the withdrawal period and before the scheduled pickup date of the rental
FREERIDE offers its Clients free cancellation of their reservation without loss of deposit up to 24 hours before the first rental day.
For any cancellation request made after the expiration of the withdrawal period and before the scheduled pickup date of the reserved equipment, FREERIDE retains the handling fees as well as the insurance fees as compensation.
FREERIDE will refund the Client the total amount paid including VAT online during the reservation made on the Site, within a maximum of 30 days by crediting the bank account used during the online reservation.
FREERIDE refuses any refund to another payment method than the one used during the reservation.
4.4. Cancellation after the scheduled pickup date of the rental
No refund can be made after the scheduled pickup date of the equipment, except for the following cases of force majeure:
- Client accident or illness
In case of injury or illness of the Client during the stay, the Client may return the concerned equipment early. Upon presentation of medical proof and a refund request completed by the Rental Store, FREERIDE may refund the Client on a pro-rata basis for the days actually used (any equipment returned after 10 am will be considered rented for the day).
- Death of a direct parent
In case of the death of a direct parent during the stay, the Client may return the concerned equipment early. FREERIDE will refund, upon presentation of proof and a refund request completed by the Rental Store, the directly concerned persons. The refund amount will be calculated on a pro-rata basis for the days actually skied (any equipment returned after 10 am will be considered rented for the day).
- Weather conditions
In case of COMPLETE closure of the ski area normally accessible from the Rental Store and only in this case, the equipment can be returned, and the relevant rental days deducted, subject to the return of the equipment to the store before 10 am for the relevant days. Upon presentation of proof from the Ski Lift and a refund request completed by the Rental Store, FREERIDE may refund the Client on a pro-rata basis for the days actually used.
However, in case of lack of snow, FREERIDE will not refund the unused rental days if the Ski Lifts are not completely closed.
In all the above cases, the amount refunded to the Client can never exceed the following formula:
Refunded amount = Total rental price of the equipment – Price of the days actually rented* *Reservation fees and Carré + insurance will be deducted
All refund requests must be transmitted directly to Customer Service via the online contact form.
The refund will be made within 30 days, with three possibilities:
- The refund amount is less than the amount paid online: refund by crediting the bank card used for online payment.
- The refund amount is greater than the amount paid online: refund in two parts, firstly a refund of the deposit by crediting the bank card, then a refund of the remainder by bank transfer, thus the client will need to provide their bank details.
- No amount was paid online: refund by transfer to the Client's bank account, thus the client will need to provide their bank details.
Article 5: Guarantees and Insurance
Each guarantee or insurance is chargeable, it can be added at the online basket stage on our website, at the prevailing rates at that time.
In case of cancellation before the stay, all guarantees or insurances will be refunded, except the Carré + insurance, according to the conditions described in Article 4.
In case of cancellation on-site or during the stay, no guarantee or insurance can be refunded, whether unused or partially used.
5.1. Breakage and Theft Guarantee
The client has the option when making their reservation to guarantee the rented equipment against damage (total or partial damage to the ski equipment), its destruction or disappearance (total or partial theft) in the following cases:
- In case of BREAKAGE during their use by the renters
- In case of THEFT occurring outside the subscriber's store The guarantee can be subscribed at the time of reservation on the website or in-store.
In all cases, the following conditions apply:
- The Guarantee does not cover the loss, misplacement, or substitution of ski equipment during the stay.
- The Guarantee is nominative and only applicable for a single incident per stay.
- On the Internet, it can only be subscribed before rental payment and cannot be added later.
- In-store, it can only be subscribed at the time of equipment pickup and cannot be added later.
- In no case can the guarantee be refunded.
In case of subscribing to the Breakage and Theft Guarantee, the Client can obtain a preferential rate for the payment of the deductible in case of breakage or theft of their equipment.
The cost of the guarantee to be paid is fixed according to the category of equipment reserved by the client in accordance with the rates below:
A 15% depreciation rate is applied per year of age of the skiing equipment. Note that from its second outing of the season, equipment will be considered as having one year of age.
Example:
The Client who subscribed to the Breakage and Theft Guarantee returns a broken ski from the Performance range to the Rental Store.
The ski in question was purchased four years ago by FREERIDE, so it is 5 years old (the current year and the four previous ones).
If we refer to the table the rate for a Performance pack is 280€, if we calculate with the years of depreciation, the amount to be paid will be 124.24€. [280 x 0.85 = 238 x 0.85 = 202.30 x 0.85 = 171.96 x 0.85 = 146.16 x 0.85 = 124.24€].
Client's obligations in case of incident:
- In case of theft of the ski equipment, the client will provide the Rental Store with the original theft report issued by the gendarmerie or police services as well as the ID of the person concerned by the theft and, if different, the ID of the person who made the reservation
- In case of damage to the ski equipment, the client will return the damaged equipment to the Rental Store, the equipment must be recognizable and complete.
5.2. Snow Guarantee
In case of the ski area opening being less than 50% of the ski lifts during the rental period, FREERIDE Clients who subscribed to the Snow Guarantee on our Website can request a refund for the non-skied days.
The opening rate of the ski area, normally accessible from the equipment rental location, is set by the Tourist Office or the Ski Lift Operator. Each Client who subscribed to the Snow Guarantee must provide proof of the opening rate giving them the right to a refund for the unused days.
Refund is valid only on ski and snowboard equipment rental.
5.3. Carré + Insurance
The Carré + insurance is a more comprehensive option than the breakage-theft guarantee, which only protects the equipment we provide you with.
The Carré + insurance, on the other hand, protects you, your family, and your equipment. It covers:
- Search and rescue costs
- First transport costs
- Medical expenses
- Repatriation assistance to home (home is considered as the main and usual residence of the Insured, on the day of subscription, located in one of the European Union countries or in Switzerland)
- Reimbursement of ski lift passes and ski lessons
- Theft and breakage insurance of rented equipment
To consult the terms of the Carré + insurance please refer to the document attached.

Article 6: Provision and Return of Rented Equipment
Attention, any reservation made less than 48 hours before the start of the stay does not guarantee the availability of the chosen equipment.
6.1. Provision and Use of Rented Equipment
The Client will receive an email confirming the rental. Only this email, containing a summary of the rental conditions, serves as confirmation and definitively validates the transaction.
If the Client cannot show up on the first day of the rental as confirmed, they must inform FREERIDE as soon as possible by sending a message via the online contact form.
The rental contract is in effect for the rental period.
The rental takes effect when the Client takes possession of the equipment at the chosen resort Store, for the duration indicated in the rental contract.
Rental Stores are only obligated to keep the reserved equipment by the Client via the Website until 10 am the next day of the first rental day indicated in the reservation confirmation email. After this period, the equipment will be re-rented by the Rental Store, without any indemnity or compensation being claimable by the Client. In such a case, the deposit remains acquired by FREERIDE.
The pickup of the Reserved Equipment is done at the Rental Store for which the reservation was made and which is mentioned in the reservation confirmation email. The Reserved Equipment will be made available only to the person who made the reservation.
The Reserved Equipment will be handed over to the Client upon presentation of the confirmation email. If not, a means of identification of the payer, as well as the reference code of their order, will be required. The remaining amount due in-store will be paid upon equipment pickup according to the general rental conditions of the Store. If not, the rental may be refused by the Rental Store without any deposit refund being possible.
The rented equipment and accessories are intended solely for the Client's use, with no possibility of subletting or lending, even free of charge. They are under the Client's full responsibility as soon as they take possession.
The Client is solely responsible for their ability to use the rented equipment or accessories, with FREERIDE relying solely on the Client's declarations. However, any reservation about the condition of the equipment must be reported by the Client to the Rental Store when picking up the equipment and will be noted on the rental form upon signing. If not, no subsequent claim will be accepted.
As SR SPORTS makes reservations on the Website on behalf of the Rental Stores, it cannot be held responsible for any default in the provision of the Reserved Equipment by the concerned Rental Store. However, in case the Rental Store is unable to provide the Client with the Reserved Equipment, the Rental Store must endeavor to provide the Client with equipment of equal or superior quality at the same rental price.
The Client can pick up their equipment at the Store the day before their first day of skiing, from 4:00 pm, during the Store's opening hours, subject to availability at the original order store.
6.2. Terms of Return of Rented Equipment and Client Responsibility
The rental automatically ends on the date indicated in the rental contract.
Returning the equipment is mandatory at the end of the rental period under the penalties provided by article 314-1 of the Penal Code, without the need for a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt and without the Client being able to invoke any hindrance.
The equipment must be returned to the Store where it was taken.
Any equipment returned after 10 am the day after the last rental day will result in additional rental days being charged and paid by the Client at the public rate posted in the Store.
If the Client is unable to return the equipment for any reason, they will be charged and must pay FREERIDE for any delay fees in addition to the CHARGING and the rental price already paid.
On the last rental day, as provided by the rental contract signed by the Parties, the Client must return the equipment in the same condition as when picked up to the resort Store that rented it. All equipment is numbered and marked, and will be returned with the same number and mark.
For safety reasons, the Client agrees to report to the resort Store any shocks that the rented helmet(s) may have suffered.
Any excessive damage, deemed to have been caused by negligence, will result in the Client paying for replacement or repair costs. The maximum limit for replacement/repair costs will be the cost of replacing the equipment "as new". This cost will be added to the rental price already paid (provided in article 5).
The Client agrees that if a pair of skis or a snowboard is returned damaged but cannot be safely re-rented, this equipment will be considered "non-repairable" and the amount to be paid will be the price of new replacement equipment.
The Client also agrees that this finding will be made by the Store manager where the equipment was rented. The Client expressly agrees by this that FREERIDE can appropriate, from their bank account, any amount due, in case of late payment or non-payment of the CHARGING/INVOICING, using the credit card number and expiration date provided by the Client.
Article 7: Breakage or Theft - Equipment not returned or returned broken
FREERIDE may retain the credit card details used by the Client for rental payment to allow for any compensation following the breakage or theft of one or more rented items, and/or to cover cases where the Client does not return all the winter sports equipment they rented.
FREERIDE may also pre-authorize, at the time of payment, an amount equivalent to the amount specified in article 5, for the rented winter sports equipment. This amount will only be debited from the credit card in case of loss, theft, or non-return of the rented equipment. This authorization will no longer be valid after the equipment is returned in good condition.
The Rental Store may also require a security deposit to cover the risks of damage, theft, or loss of the Rented Equipment. The amount and terms of the security deposit are set by the Rental Stores. This security deposit will be returned to the Client by the Rental Store upon the return of the rented equipment if no anomaly is found.
The client will be charged in case of breakage or non-return of the equipment at the fixed price described in article 5.
Article 8: Complaints
Complaints arising during the execution of the rental contract must be reported as soon as possible to the resort Store manager at the place of stay so that a solution can be sought as soon as possible.
Complaints that could not be addressed on-site or were not resolved must be sent within 31 days after the end of the reservation via the contact section of the FREERIDE website.
Or by mail to the following address: FREERIDE, Customer Service, 695 Avenue Paul Louis Merlin, 73800 MONTMELIAN
Any complaint received more than 31 days after the end date of the Client's reservation will be inadmissible and cannot give rise to compensation or indemnity, in any form.
If supporting documents need to be provided, the deadline for receiving these documents is a maximum of 31 days from the date of the request made by the customer service for the said supporting documents. After this period, the Client's complaint will be inadmissible and cannot give rise to compensation or indemnity, in any form.
